Filmmaker Biography
Filmmaker is a Canadian foursome that came together quickly in the wake of the breakup of bassist Michael Dawson and drummer Troy Bjorndal's band. The addition of vocalist/guitarist Carl Johnson and guitarist Andrew Chevrier was integral to the group's inception. Johnson's melodic singing coupled with Dawson's lyrics allowed the Saskatchewan-based band to become a Western Canadian cult favorite. They gained notoriety through the MP3.com website, which lead to the release of a 2001 EP Break This Fall. In 2002, with Tristan Helgason (Ghosts of Modern Man/Four Hundred Strong) took over on the kit and they stepped into the studio with producer Blair Calibaba (Gob/Sum 41/By A Thread/Champion) to record a full-length album. An Invitation to an Accident appeared in September 2002 on Farway Records. Tristan now plays in Ghosts of Modern Man while Carl Johnson and Mike Dawson have gone on to play in National Frost and Library Voices.
