Lamar Ashe

Lamar Ashe doesn't just make music, he embodies it. Under the direction of Red1 (Rascalz) at Killawatt Records, LA has found his voice; his upcoming album Louder Than Words is the debut of this sublime, razor-sharp sound. It's not simply R&B though it distills the sentiments of Rhythm and Blues' entire catalogue: classic in tone and abstract in form, Lamar's breakthrough album relays a current of emotion that transcends the type and oration of words. Born in Beechville, Nova Scotia, Lamar Ashe is much more than a Halifax sensation. He's always been destined for great things, and in 2003 Red1 signed Lamar to Killawatt Records. Lamar has since shared the stage with hip-hop's legends, including RZA and GZA of Wu Tang Clan, Rihanna, Nas, Damien Marley, Akon, and Ice Cube. In 2008 Lamar toured with the iconic Somali-Canadian rapper K'naan, whose cultural expression of positive music greatly influenced Lamar: in 2010 K'naan invited Lamar to feature in his Canadian Young Artists for Haiti version of "Wavin' Flag" alongside Drake, Justin Bieber and Avril Lavigne. Lamar has continued to evolve in his singing as well as his composition and production skills. His debut single "Killa Danca" set a new trend in the Canadian R&B scene, and continues to make waves as the sexy, classy and slightly creepy video infiltrates screens across the world. His upcoming album includes collaborations with Kardinal Offishall, K-Os and Red1, giving the work a context and depth which melds a variety of sounds with the unfiltered expressions of Lamar's inquiring mind.
