If you live in Los Angeles it doesn't get much bigger than Hard Summer. And the roster for this year's gathering is as star-packed as ever. Mega EDM promoter Hard announced the line-up for the sixth annual edition of the two-day festival with a cheeky three-minute video starring a dog show's-worth of adorable canines, ducks and other wildlife dressed in an increasingly absurd array of costumes.
Among the acts on tap for the August 3-4 blowout in Los Angeles' State Historic Park are: Justice (DJ set), trippy Australian dance rockers Empire of the Sun, MTV Artist to Watch veteran Zedd, Dillon Francis, Knife Party, Bassnectar, "Harlem Shake" sensation Baauer, rapper 2 Chainz, Disclosure, Alvin Risk, Brodinski, Gesaffelstein, Busy P, Destructo, Duck Sauce, Sbtrkt (DJ set), Tommy Trash, Dog Blood, Boys Noize, TNGNT, Flosstradamus, Crystal Castles, Claude Vonstroke, Flying Lotus, Flux Pavilion, Kill the Noise, Azealia Banks and Mr. Oizo.
Also slated to appear are: R.L. Grime, Julio Bashmore, Justin Martin, Breakbot, Alex Metric, Eats Everything, Duke Dumont, Bondax, Keys N' Krates, Green Lantern, Jerome Lol, Samo Sound Boy, Paper Diamond, Gorgon City, Gladiator and others.
The event will also feature the only U.S. stop of the Ed Banger 10th anniversary party/stage on Sunday with a DJ set from Justice and the Ed Banger megamix, as well as music from Busy P, Breakbot, Mr. Oizo, Feadz and So Me and the Dirty Bird Players stage. Since its debut in 2008, Hard Summer has become the largest ticketed music festival in L.A., drawing more than 50,000 fans last year for its first two-day event, featuring sets from Skrillex, Bloc Party, Miike Snow, Boys Noize and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy.
