50 Cent has been branded a hero after he helped to stop a knife-wielding attacker at an awards ceremony.

The star was at the Vibe Magazine bash in Los Angeles with singer Olivia when he grabbed the man as he lunged at hip hop star Dr Dre who was collecting a legend gong.

One man was injured in the melee, thought to be a member of rapper G-Unit's entourage.

He was said to be "stable" in hospital reports The Sun.

A witness said: "Someone ran forward to get Dre but a bunch of people from 50 Cent's table blocked him. It was pure panic."
