Dr. Dre's Detox album is dropping this year, in spite of the uncertainty surrounding the actual release date. And although it's been more than 10 years since Dre's last LP, the super-producer's project is still highly anticipated, and 50 Cent says he's among the fans who, based on the former NWA member's résumé, is looking forward to the collection.
"I think everyone is," said 50, who inked a deal with Eminem and Dre before releasing his acclaimed debut album. "When you got a producer that has that kind of production track record, you even have to credit both Eminem's success and my success to Dr. Dre as a producer," he told. "My first single off of Get Rich or Die Tryin' — people constantly tell me it was a classic — was produced by Dr. Dre, 'In Da Club.' Without that momentum from that song, I'm not sure they would have taken to 'P.I.M.P.' the same way or '21 Questions' or any of the other records I did following that."
Dre is currently readying the releasing of his second single, "I Need a Doctor," following the Snoop Dogg and Akon-assisted "Kush." The Alex Da Kid-produced track features Eminem and Dre trading verses about their musical partnership.
"Went through friends, some of them I put on, but they just left," Dre raps on the number. "They said they was riding to the death/ But where the f--- are they now, now that I need them?/ I don't see any of them, all I see is Slim."
Detox still has no scheduled release date.
