The rapper has landed several roles in movies, including Things Fall Apart, Freelancers and Vengeance. 50 is confident he has what it takes to make it in Hollywood and doesn't understand why people question his ability just because he started out in the music industry. He argues many musicians have gone on to forge successful acting careers, insisting those who criticise are just unhappy with their own achievements.
"When you make it in one portion of art, people doubt you in others. I don't take it personally," he said in an interview with British newspaper The Independent. "I think it's a reflection of how they feel about themselves. They doubt themselves in different areas and they just reflect that off on you. When I'm passionate about something I pretty much get to it. People say, 'He's a rapper, he can't act'. I guess they forgot about Will Smith, right? And they forgot about Mark Wahlberg, and they forgot about Queen Latifah. They forgot about a lot of people."
50 still feels passionate about music and has been busy working on a new album, which was expected to be released this year. However, earlier this week he lashed out at Interscope and threatened to withhold his material and leak Dr. Dre's new single after accusing the record label of not giving his new music enough attention.
50 admits he is anxious about the expectation surrounding his latest album and doesn't expect it to be as successful as his debut offering Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2003.
"I've got a lot of pressure on me releasing the next record,' he explained. ''m still trying to top my first album. I don't think I can match the actual sales on that record, but I can match the energy."
