Adam Levine has admitted he didn't handle fame very well in the beginning.
The Maroon 5 frontman is making his movie debut in Begin Again as a songwriter who succumbs to the trappings of his new-found fame. The 35-year-old can certainly see some similarities between his character, Dave, and his own rise to stardom.
"My character Dave reminded me of someone I was a while back. He's immature, and all of a sudden you have all this success and things happening to you - you make mistakes. I didn't handle it particularly well either," he explained to the British edition of Cosmopolitan. "Sometimes you don't get the girl, sometimes you screw it up. It's really sad but we've all been there. And ultimately I think you learn your lesson and grow from those experiences."
Adam is now happily engaged to Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo. The singer has no regrets about hanging up his bachelor shoes.
"The idea of dating now is a nightmare," he said. "It's such a relief to be out of that. It's nice right now, it's a beautiful thing."
However, if he did have to take someone on a date again, he would go for classic options like the cinema or a cozy meal for two. And the location would be in one of his favorite cities, New York.
"I like going to the movies. But for a date, dinner is a good one for me because then you can get to know each other.
Dinner and talking are two of my favorite things," he said. "My whole family more or less started off in New York so I have a lot of history there. It's one of those places that has so much depth and character - the architecture is beautiful, it's got a rich culture and history that a lot of places don't have, especially in America."
