Adam Levine shocked my acting prowess

Adam Levine has joked that he's successful on screen because he's "the director's b***h".

The Maroon 5 singer has served as a mentor on US TV talent competition The Voice and acted in upcoming movie Can a Song Save Your Life?

Adam says even he was surprised when he saw his convincing performance in the film.

"I'm the director's b***h," Adam joked to the Hollywood Reporter.

"[I was surprised at how] not sh*tty I was. They'll [the critics] probably say that I'm a better actor than I am a singer or something. They'll find some way to f**k me with something negative."

Adam also appeared in three episodes of TV show American Horror Story, where he portrayed a doomed newlywed. The musician denies he has a talent for acting, claiming it is a lot easier than playing live gigs in front of thousands of fans.

"I'm not good at it," Adam protested.

"You get onstage and perform in front of 10,000 people, and if you f**k up, it's your ass. How scary is it to go into an intimate setting that's totally comfortable and do something 500 times until you get it right? That's not pressure."

Adam says winning fans over as part of Maroon 5 was easy. He shared why he thinks he's such a popular star.

"As a pop star, you don't have to be that smart for people to think you're intelligent. The bar is f**king low; if you have half a brain, they think you're amazing. So I have that going for me," Adam continued. "[The second reason is] I don't lie, and that's unusual in a world of media-obsessed, media-trained f**king liars who will sit here with you and totally bullsh*t you to further their own careers."
