Adele's breakthrough album equals Madonna's record for longest stint at UK number one for a female artist.
The soul singing sensation's second album, the smash hit 21, has just spent its ninth week at number one on the UK album charts and has sold six-times platinum.
This equals the historic run of Madonna's Immaculate Collection on the UK charts back in 1990, nine weeks at number one for a female artist.
Adele has been having an incredible run otherwise; her 2008 debut album 19 has held the number two or number three spot in the UK chart for the last five weeks
She also has three singles in the UK top 40: 'Somebody Like You' currently at number one, 'Rolling In The Deep' at number nine and 'Make You Feel My Love' at number 36.
The album also topped the US chart last week and has gone to number one in eight other countries.
21 peaked at number three on Australia's ARIA Album chart and is currently at number twelve. It is yet to go gold here.
