Adele has sold an album every seven seconds since last year's BRIT Awards, new figures have revealed.
A copy of her debut album '19' or '21' have been shifted every seven seconds following her performance of 'Someone Like You' at last year's ceremony.
The Official Charts Compmay managing director Martin Talbot said: "In the past year, Adele has gone from being one of many popular British talents, to being bona fide international superstar
"No-one could possibly have imagined when she stepped on the O2 stage for last year's BRITs that a year later she would be able to count a total of 6 million album sales and an album which would sit alongside Thriller, Brothers In Arms and Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band as one of the Top 10 biggest sellers of all time."
The singer is nominated for three awards and will also make her UK comeback live performance at London's O2 .
"I have a soft spot for The BRITs, but this year feels really special since last year it kick-started my album into what it's become. What a beautiful way to celebrate! Adele said.

She is currently favourite to win the award for Best Award', with William Hill giving her odds of 2/7 to take win.
Other performances on the night will include Jessie J, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna and Adele.
The Arctic Monkeys, Chase & Status, Coldplay, Elbow and Kasabian are all up for Best British Group.
Ed Sheeran, James Blake, James Morrison, Noel Gallagher, and Professor Green are all up for Best British Male.
The BRIT Awards 2012 will take place February 21 at London's O2 Arena.
