The singer burst onto the music scene with her debut album 19 in 2008, and has won two Grammy Awards. She is known for her larger-than-life personality, and loves chatting and joking during interviews. The star explained she has been that way since she was a child, and thanks her family for instilling her with self-confidence.
“I’ve always felt comfortable in my own skin, actually. I’ve never been brought up to question myself, and never felt like I should look, act or feel a certain way,” she revealed. “Sometimes I’m so loud that afterwards I cringe, but I can’t help it. I like being the life of the party. At school I was the class clown, trying to bust jokes all the time.”
Adele’s mother and father are no longer together, and although she is close to her mom her relationship with her dad has been more strained.
The 22-year-old hasn’t seen her father since she was 15, but she hopes to get to know him in the future. She admits feeling anger about her situation when she was younger, but now she has moved on.
“He lives in Wales, he’s Welsh. It’s just disappointing when your own blood can’t keep promises and try to get out of things,” she told Q. “I always felt like I needed him to have something to compare to in other relationships with men. I didn’t know what a dad was supposed to do because I’d never had one. I’m sure I’ll see him again, because now I think we could be friends.”
