Adele is continuing to reign over the U.S. albums chart after notching up a record-setting third week of million-plus sales for her hit release 25.
The soulful superstar's third studio album rocketed to the top of the Billboard 200 upon its release on 20 November (15), entering the chart with a massive 3.38 million sales.
It shifted another 1.11 million in its second week, making 25 the first project to earn multiple million-plus sales weeks since officials at Nielsen Music began tracking data in 1991, and now it has scored a third million-selling frame with 1.15 million pure album sales in the week leading up to Christmas Eve (24Dec15).
25's total sales in the U.S. now stand at 7.13 million.
Adele's continued success keeps Justin Bieber's Purpose in second place, ahead of Chris Brown's Royalty, which debuts at three on the new countdown.
That's Christmas to Me by Pentatonix slips one spot to four, while the Star Wars: The Force Awakens soundtrack flies into fifth place, earning the highest debut for a score-only soundtrack since 1999, when the music for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace entered the Billboard 200 at three.
