Adele insists that the throat cancer rumours are "false".
The singer sparked speculation about her health after announcing she was cancelling all remaining live tours and promotional appearances in 2011. The decision was blamed on an ongoing throat problem.
When it was announced on Friday that Adele was to undergo surgery, fans began to speculate that the Rolling in the Deep star was actually suffering from throat cancer.
Her representation has confirmed that these rumours are completely untrue.
"We would like to reiterate that Adele is to undergo surgery for a haemorrhaged vocal cord," they told US Weekly. "All reports regarding any other condition are 100 percent false."
Adele has suffered from throat problems throughout the year.
Despite her illness the star has still managed to top the charts with her album 21 all over the world.
Her website is remaining positive about her condition, but maintains that she must fully recover from surgery before performing again.
"A full recovery is expected. As a result, [of the surgery] doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments."
