Adele says winning a Grammy Award is like being in a "secret members' club".
The British singer was named Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 2009 ceremony. The prestigious accolades were for her debut album 19.
Adele still can't believe she was recognised by the music industry so early in her career.
"I feel like I'm in a secret members' club and I think I am going to get thrown out," she confessed.
The modest music star has attracted a host of fans, including many celebrities, with the release of her second record 21. The new album has been a hit all over the world and Adele credits her Grammy victory for her latest chart success.
"A lot more people were interested and aware of me after that," the 23-year-old is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Sun. "The Grammy travels worldwide. Every country has their own award but Grammys are special and everyone was very interested."
Adele recently admitted she never dreamed of being a world famous singer.
She is overwhelmed by her achievements so far.
"The success literally fell into my lap," she explained. "I was always singing and knew I would be involved in music. But I thought I would be a receptionist or work in a shop and on my days off go and play an acoustic show to my family and friends.
"I never ever thought this would happen."
