The British star's hit album 21 has now spent 16 weeks at the top, breaking a number of chart records.
Bush's album Director's Cut is a collection of her singles from previous albums that have been re-recorded and it was thought it would outsell Adele's offering.
However it failed to sell enough to make it to the top spot and ended up at number two while Adele's debut album 19 was at number three.
In the singles chart Pitbull got his first number one with Give Me Everything while Lady Gaga became the first female artist since 1955 to have four top 20 singles in one week.
Her track Hair when straight in at number 12 while Born This Way was at 16, Judas at number eight and The Edge Of Glory at number six.
