And now doctors have apparently said she must try and avoid all singing and unnecessary talking to give her vocal chords a chance to recover - if she doesn't, she may get nodules which could affect her singing voice forever.
She wrote on her website: 'I'm really frustrated. I was hoping with a weeks rest I'd be better to sing again straight away. However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctors advice and rest some more. I'm so sorry.'
The Rolling In The Deep hitmaker singer has also reportedly been advised to quit smoking.
She has returned home to rest but a source told British newspaper the News of the World that she needed to take her condition more seriously.
A source said: 'Adele's voice is very special. But if she continues to abuse it in the way she has, then she could lose it completely.
'The problem is that she is now back in London and seeing her mates like the comedian Alan Carr, and all she wants to do is have a gossip with them.'
