Adele has been crowned the winner of the BBC's annual Sound Of 2008 survey.
The hotly-tipped singer-songwriter topped a poll of 150 UK music critics in the poll, which was announced today.
She finished ahead of Duffy, The Ting Tings, Glasvegas and Foals in the Top Ten of the annual list.
Adele, who went to the same performing arts school as Amy Winehouse, Katie Melua and Kate Nash, has spoken of her delight at winning, commenting: "I'm really excited.
"I hope it's always about the music and I hope I don't become scandalous and it takes me an hour to get out of my front door. I hope I always enjoy it, and I think I will."
Adele follows Mika and Corinne Bailey Rae in claiming the prize.
