Overview
Akon has pleaded not guilty to endangering the welfare of a minor and second degree harassment.
Earlier this year the star lured a fan onto the stage, then threw him off into the crowd, and a woman who allegedly suffered concussion after the boy landed on her sued him.
His lawyer Benjamin Brafman said in a statement, "It was never Akon's intention to violate the law. This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets."
Akon has been released on his own recognisance and the case has been adjourned until January.
According to Associated Press, Akon has been told he will not have to appear at future court dates and his lawyer can appear on his behalf.
