Alanis Morissette is reportedly "really excited" about possibly joining American Idol.
The Canadian singer, who skyrocketed to international stardom in 1995 with her multi-platinum album Jagged Little Pill, is now in the running to judge the upcoming season of the hit TV talent show.
Alanis is elated about how being on the programme would impact her career.
"Alanis is really excited about the prospect of being on the show," a source told Radar Online.
"She has [new album Havoc and Bright Lights] coming out and the publicity would be great. She kind of disappeared for a while to get married and have a baby, but now she's ready to get her career back on track."
Mariah Carey has already signed on to judge with Randy Jackson, but the other spot is still vacant.
Alanis believes she would provide a unique perspective.
"They have Mariah Carey for the diva figure on the show and Alanis would be the honest judge who could really teach the contestants important lessons about the music business," the source said.
Following the departures of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, Pharrell Williams, Nick Jonas and P. Diddy have also been linked to a potential spot on the panel.
