Alanis Morissette opened her American tour at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ on Saturday night, relying more on her breakthrough album, Jagged Little Pill, then on her new release, Havoc and Bright Lights.
All told, seven selections of the 18 song set were from Pill while only four were from the new album with the rest of the music from throughout her career.
Tris McCall of the Newark Star-Ledger said "Morissette retains a characteristic and idiosyncratic yowl — one that, once heard, could not be mistaken for anybody else's voice. If it isn't as biting as it used to be, it remains lithe and versatile, capable of rendering the gorgeous Thank U in pastels, and scribbling out 21 Things I Want in a Lover in thick charcoal."
