Alesha Dixon has revealed her exclusive design for the Variety Club Gold Hearts appeal. The singer-songwriter, dancer, model, and TV personality is the face of the 2010 Gold Hearts appeal and has designed a limited-edition Gold Heart badge to raise money for The Variety Club - one of UK's longest running charities dedicated to sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and young people.
The Variety Club Gold Hearts are the original charity badge. Established in 1991, the badges have featured a different design every year and are popular collector's items. This year's design features the classic gold finish and Alesha's signature. Each Gold Heart badge sold will help to raise much-needed funds for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and young people all over the country. The badges are now on sale in all Co-operative stores, H Samuel branches, Cineworld, Odeon and across all AHG/MWB venues including Malmaison, Liberty, Greens Health & Fitness, DeVere Venues and Village Hotels in addition to local retailers and from The Variety Club website.
Last year saw The Variety Club celebrate its 60th year of bringing hope, independence and freedom to children and young people, raising over £200m since its inception. Among its tireless work, the charity provides Sunshine Coaches, Easy Riders electric wheelchairs, exciting and educational trips, equipment for children's hospitals and life-enhancing equipment.
In commenting on her association with the charity, Alesha Dixon says: "The Variety Club is a fantastic charity helping so many thousands of children and young people every year regardless of whether they are sick, have mobility problems, are disabled or come from disadvantaged backgrounds.I'm so happy to be involved in this Gold Heart campaign, where every badge you buy will make a real difference to someone's life. And remember just three badges will pay for an unforgettable day out for one of our young people. Have a heart, help a child."
In commenting on Alesha Dixon's Ambassadorship, Paul Lawrence, Chief Barker of Variety Club, says: "We are very pleased that Alesha has chosen to support The Variety Club as she recognises the work the charity does and the ways in which we change lives for both children and their families, whilst helping them cope with the day to day difficulties they face. It's great to have her on board as the face of Gold Hearts and we hope her commitment will encourage others to get involved with bringing freedom, hope and independence to thousands of children and young people across the UK."
The Variety Club's Gold Heart Badges are now available and selling throughout 2010 in all Co-operative stores, H Samuel branches, Cineworld, Odeon and across all AHG/MWB venues including Malmaison, Liberty, Greens Health & Fitness, DeVere Venues and Village Hotels in addition to local retailers and from the Variety Club website, for a suggested minimum donation of £1.
