Alicia Keys has finally delivered the music video for her empowering new single "Girl On Fire," which the Grammy winner first performed at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.
The nearly four minute clip is set in an urban apartment and showcases a very happy Keys going about the daily duties involved in being a mom, friend, mentor, wife, etc. And despite the fact that the song's title refers to a girl on fire, the colors used in the video are all very cool. Keys is bathed in lights that are jewel-toned, and in several scenes, particularly the ones in which Keys is singing from her bedroom, she looks like a modern day Egyptian princess with her very chic wardrobe and the general elegance and stylish composure of the sequences.
The bottom line of the video is Keys' unbridled joy with her life — she's happy cleaning house and doing chores, she's happy spending time with her loved ones — so happy she's singing about it. The video compliments Keys' comments about the track as well and her expression of general contentment with her life at this point in time.
"Before making this record, in some ways I felt like a lion locked in a cage... I felt like a girl misunderstood that no one really knew. I felt like it was time to stop making excuses for any part of my life that I wanted to change," she wrote on her website when she announced the single. "Once I made that choice I became a Girl on Fire, the lion broke free!!"
Keys' has promised fans that her fifth studio album, which drops November 27, will take fans on a "journey."
"It is a new journey. It is a new story. There's so much that is new to talk about, and I think all of our journeys are so incredible," Keys told. "So being a new mom, a new wife, being a woman who's really trying to find herself, take control of my life, my business, my world."
