Opening this weekend, Leave to Remain is the inspirational coming of age drama that unveils an unseen world of teenage asylum seekers to the UK who, torn apart by conflicts and fear, show the value of companionship, trust, and the courage to find reconciliation.
Featuring a scored soundtrack from the hottest band of the year, Mercury Music Prize and Novello Award-winners Alt-J, this will be an early chance for fans to hear the new direction of the band's eagerly anticipated second album, following the release of the single Hunger of the Pine earlier this week.
This bold debut feature from BAFTA winner Bruce Goodison, is brought to life by powerful performances from an ensemble cast of emerging talent and young refugees themselves, and acclaimed actor, Toby Jones.
Alt-J said: "We enjoyed working on the soundtrack for Leave To Remain immensely. Bruce gave us a very free rein when it came to the music we composed, and this lack of creative restriction was a big reason we were attracted to the project. We also felt that Leave To Remain, though it was only a screenplay when we first got involved, was going to be a film that deserved as wide an audience as possible, and was something that we really wanted to be involved in. Collaboration, in many forms, is a big part of what we do in Alt-J, and we knew this film would be an amazing opportunity for to us to work with some talented people and also to try our hand at a new kind of composition.
The finished film is beautifully made, and balances its important message with a great cast of characters and an engrossing story. We are proud to have been a part of it."
Alt-J's second album This Is All Yours will be released in the UK on 22 September via Infectious Music in CD, digital and double-vinyl editions.
Alt-J will play a number of UK music festivals this summer, including Glastonbury between June 28-30 and Latitude over the weekend July 18-21.
