Peaches has revealed she had to win over Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice before she was able to take her new musical show Peaches Christ Superstar out on the road.
Next month, the Berlin-based Canadian singer will play a six-date North American tour with the show - which is inspired by Lloyd Webber and Rice's musical Jesus Christ Superstar.
Speaking to Billboard, Peaches revealed that the German rights-holders for the musical initially cancelled its March premiere after they thought she would "desecrate the original".
However, after Rice stepped in, the musical was given the go-ahead after he and Lloyd Webber attended a trial show.
"I've had this idea since I was about 14, when I used to listen to the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack and just act it out by myself. I never really entertained the idea as something that I would do in front of people until [a Berlin] theatre asked me to do a production," Peaches explained.
She continued: "It feels shamanistic, you give yourself over to this passion. For me it tells the story of how people misinterpret things, how one person's good intentions turn into something larger that gets out of control."
Peaches Christ Superstar will tour at:
Boston, MA Institute of Contemporary Art (December 10)
New York, NY The Concert Hall (11)
Chicago, IL Portage Theater (14)
Los Angeles, CA (17)
San Francisco, CA (18)
Toronto, ON (21)
