Andrew Lloyd Webber signs Universal deal

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Universal Music will continue their 40-year relationship with a new long-term agreement for his Really Useful Group.

The first release under the new deal will be Andrew Lloyd Webber's next musical 'Love Never Dies'. Universal's Polydor label will release the soundtrack album in March to coincide with the debut of the musical in London.

"I am delighted to have renewed my partnership with Universal Music," Andrew Lloyd Webber said in a statement. " They have been wonderful custodians of my music for over three decades, and it is a relationship that I and my colleagues at RUG value most highly. Together we have taken the music around the world, and it is exciting to be announcing this agreement on the eve of our latest collaboration, the "Love Never Dies" album. I am grateful to my friends, and I really mean friends, at Universal for their loyalty and support over many years, and look forward to working with them in future, especially as we work together to explore the incredible possibilities that digital technologies will bring. "

The Andrew Lloyd Webber relationship predates the existence of Universal Music but goes back to MCA Records days and the 'Jesus Christ Superstar' soundtrack that is now a Universal release.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber catalogue includes 'Cats', 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Evita', 'Starlight Express' and 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat'.
