Gaymers cider has signed up Anna Calvi, tipped to be the BBC's Sound of 2011, to kick off their series of Hotspots as part of hmv's Next Big thing.
Gaymers , the number one live music cider, will host Hotspot gigs in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh showcasing performances from some of the country's most exciting new acts. Artists include Caitlin Rose at the Camden Barfly, John Fratelli at the hmv Picture House in Edinburgh and the Deconstruction label night at Heaven.
Everyone from Brian Eno to Edith Bowman agree that Anna Calvi is one to watch this year. The London based singer-songwriter brings a captivating magnetic intensity to her performances. The soon-to-be-sensation also has the respect of her peers after supporting Interpol and Nick Cave's Ginderman on their tours last year. Anna performs at the Camden Barfly on the 4thof February, you won't want to miss her.
The much praised Glasgow trio, Sparrow & the Workshop, will be sharing the stage with Anna Calvi after a string of impressive gigs supporting The Pogues on their 2010 Christmas tour.
Another musical treat comes from Australian popstrel Sarah Blasko, who won over fans at last year's V Festival, Great Escape and Secret Garden with her sweet acoustic sounds and uplifting melodies. She'll be playing at Camden Jazz Café on the 13th of February. On the same night, fans will also be treated to a DJ slot from Portishead's Andy Smith.
Fresh from touring with Mumford and Sons, Nathaniel Rateliff will be supporting Tennessee native Caitlin Rose at the Camden Barfly on the 11th. Morning Parade, label-mates of Coldplay, Blur and Tinnie Tempah, pop up twice, supporting the Airborne toxic event at Heaven, London, on the 10th and Jon Fratelli, of The Fratellis, in Edinburgh on the 12th.
Victoria Walker, Brand Marketing Gaymers cider says: "We've got some great artists on the bill this year that we know music lovers will be really excited about. Getting to see the likes of Anna Calvi and Caitlan Rose in amazing venues will be an experience to remember. I'm sure you'll find Anna, like many of the acts on our Hotspot line up, turning up on festival bills later in the summer and there's something very special about saying you've seen them months before everybody else. We'll look forward to seeing you there and checking out some new music talent over a pint of Gaymers cider."
With such an exclusive and varied line up, Gaymers Hotspot nights are set to be an essential part of the hmv Next Big Thing experience.
