Anna Wintour was driven to tears when she became lost in a basement after she attended Kanye West's latest fashion show.
The editor-in-chief of American Vogue was a guest at rapper and streetwear designer Kanye's Yeezy Season 3 launch at Madison Square Garden in New York in February (16).
But the British-born style queen admits she didn't have an entirely enjoyable experience at the glitzy gig, sharing her misadventures during an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday night (12Apr16).
Anna reveals she was seated with the Kardashians and Jay Z for the "migrant chic" fashion show, but after the "wonderful" Life of Pablo concert had finished, she decided to attempt a quick exit.
"But after 45 minutes, I did happen to notice that Jay Z had slid away, so I thought maybe I could sneak out after him without anybody noticing," she explained. "But I slid into the basement of Madison Square Garden and I was lost there for half an hour, asking various people to let me out!"
The 66-year-old admits she was reduced to tears, but a security guard (who, in a twist of fate, used to be her son's baseball coach) saved the day.
"Yes, please take me out of here" Anna yelped at the security officer, who kindly showed her out of the huge arena.
Anna, who was on the late night programme to discuss The First Monday in May, a new documentary about the 2015 Met Gala and exhibition China: Through the Looking Glass, also revealed that when she saw Seth at the Yeezy Season Two show in September last year (15), she guessed that the TV host and his wife Alexi Ashe were expecting a baby, even though they hadn't revealed the news to any friends at the time. Seth and Alexi welcomed a son, Ashe Olsen, in March this year (16).
Anna said that she and Seth had both been "mesmerised" by Kanye and wife Kim Kardashian's daughter North West, two, at the show.
"I looked at you and said 'Seth, when are you and Alexi going to have a baby?', and you went red, I mean bright red. So it didn't take a genius to figure out what was going on," she laughed.
