A Kickstarter campaign has raised enough money to ensure the digital release of the extremely rare Aphex Twin album Caustic Window.
The rather awesome tale began when a vinyl of the long lost LP was posted on Discogs with an asking price of $13,500. From there fans rather cleverly pitched together to create a Kickstarter page to collectively raise the funds to release the album digitally. It has now raised $62,424 which is over seven times its original target.
Aphex Twins label Rephlex has also backed the campaign with the extra money left over going to the label, Aphex and if rumours from Fact are correct - to charity. Fans who invested $16 each into the project will each receive a digital copy of the LP once it has been mastered.
The album itself contains a total of 16 tracks, two which have seen release on compilations, two which are recordings of Aphex Twin prank calling his mates and 12 that are unreleased rarities.
A few of the songs have been heard live and in mixes before, but the release of the album will be the first time many of these songs have been heard.
