Win Butler of Arcade Fire doesn't envy Barack Obama almost two years into his presidency.
I definitely don't envy his job right now,' Butler said in an interview with UK newspaper Metro. 'He's been able to get a lot of things through that are maybe a little more subtle. The main thing for me is a lot of the people working on Haiti policy are competent ' that was definitely not the case under Bush.
'[A swing to the right] always happens,' he added. 't's kind of like worrying about the weather. Most of the really far-right Tea Party candidates lost this last election. The Obama election showed, if anything, the country as a whole is more moderate than it was eight years ago.
Butler's political associations are not something he hides. Arcade Fire performances are regularly loaded with political speech between songs and in 2009 the band played several shows in support of Obama.
Earlier this year the band pledged $US1,000,000 to the Haiti earthquake relief effort.
Their latest album 'The Suburbs' is available now.
