A$AP Rocky Hopes To Win His First-Ever Award At Woodies

A$AP Rocky has such a winner's mentality, so it's a little hard to believe that the Harlem rap star has never won an award. But now that he's up for a Woodie of the Year award at the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards, maybe Rocky's luck will change.

"I'm so delighted to know that I'm nominated for a Woodie Award. I've never won an award a day in my life, except like a basketball trophy one time," the de facto leader of the A$AP Mob told MTV.

Fans can vote for A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Fun., MGK, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, Grimes or Walk the Moon in the Woodie of the Year category. Based off all of his work in the past year, Lord Flacko may just walk away with the hardware.

After his debut album Long.Live.A$AP was leaked weeks early in December, Rocky still managed to notch a #1 album. Since releasing his first mixtape Live.Love.A$AP in 2011, Rock has grown as one of hip-hop's breakout stars and even landed at #8 on MTV News' "Hottest MCs in the Game VIII" list earlier this month.

MGK and Tegan and Sara will co-host the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards on Thursday (March 14) in Austin, Texas during the SXSW Music Festival. Be sure to tune in March 17 at 8 p.m. ET on MTV and mtvU, when we'll air a half-hour 2013 Woodie Awards special and find out who took home the trophy.
