Babyshambles album nearly finished

Babyshambles are nearing the completion of their eagerly awaited ‘ground-breaking' debut album.

The band are currently in their final week of recording in a secret studio near Reading, completing work on the 30 songs ready for the final cut of the LP.

The wealth of material will be whittled down for the final set of tracks and the group aim to start the last mix on the record the week after next.

“It's a statement,” drummer Adam Ficek told NME.COM. “You're going to hear a band playing in a room â€" what you see is what you get. The way Mick Jones (ex-Clash guitarist and Libertines producer) likes to work, there's no edits, no overdubs. It's a very honest, warm and sincere record.”

Babyshambles kicked off the recording of the as-yet-untitled album at the Twin Peaks studio in Wales in mid-March where the group recorded a number of songs.

Babyshambles then took the decision to move from Wales to their current studio, located just outside of London, where they have been for three weeks.

The drummer also revealed that the band have written six or seven new songs for the album, half of which he expects to make the final tracklisting.
