BASEMENT JAXX have admitted that they wouldn't be surprised if their record label ditched them.
One half of the dance duo, Simon Ratcliffe, said he was unsure of their future after they release their next album Scars, their last one as part of five-album deal with XL Recordings.
Speaking to Gigwise.com, Ratcliffe said: "It's the end of our contract and XL have the option to renew it or to let us go.
"I wouldn't be surprised if they let us go because they strive off signing new bands."
He also questioned whether they actually needed a record label.
He added: "It is true, do we need XL really? Do we need them? And we don't know what we're gonna be doing – we might end up doing music soundscapes or something – we don't know."
Scars is out on September 21 and Basement Jaxx will embark on a UK tour in December.
