A biopic of Phil Spector has been put on hold following an injury to Bette Midler.
Filming on the biopic by HBO Films had to halted after Bette failed to turn up on set. According to Deadline it was discovered that the showbiz icon suffered a herniated disc and had to pull out because of doctor's orders.
She was due to play the troubled music producer's defence attorney on his first trial for murder.
The biopic is said to revolve around Linda Kenney Baden's relationship with her client. However, HBO are said to be now looking to recast the part.
Al Pacino will play the legendary producer who was made famous because of his wall of sound production.
Despite an original mistrial he was eventually found guilty of the murder of actress Lana Clarkson and sentenced to nearly 20 years in jail.
David Mamet is on writer and director duties, while Barry Levinson is producing the eagerly awaited biopic.
