Blake Lively: 'I appreciate being alone'

The Gossip Girl star spoke to Glamour magazine about 'clothes and guys' in an interview conducted by 'her new best friend', Florence And The Machine singer Florence Welch.

And Lively, who is rumoured to be dating the Titanic star, speaks openly about her love life – or lack of, as she insisted was the case during her interview.

'I appreciate being alone,' she says, insisting her single status is 'incredibly liberating'.

'People can feel more alone in a relationship than when they're single if they abandon who they are,' she adds.

The 24-year-old actress, who famously dated her Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley, also reveals that her love splits have always been relatively pain free.

'Every relationship you have, you're learning and growing and taking something from that. So for me, it's never been too dramatic of a thing when something ends,” she says.

On the subject of clothes, the Green Lantern star – who says she never tweets because 'honestly, I'm so sick of myself' – admits she can only wear revealing outfits by pretending to be someone else.

'I am far too shy to walk around in a dress like that,' she says of the risqué Versace dress she wore for the 2009 Met Ball.

'So I thought, the only way I can wear this is to pretend I'm someone else. Who is somebody who completely owns her sexuality? I thought, ‘Marilyn Monroe!’ So I'm going to be Marilyn Monroe tonight.'
