Blake Shelton: 'This album is literally the best I can do'

Blake Shelton's new album If I'm Honest represents his best work.

The 39-year-old singer is gearing up to release his latest record on 20 May (16). It's his tenth studio album and as he revealed the cover on Monday night's (18Apr16) episode of U.S. talent show The Voice, Blake insisted he is more than proud of his work.

"I'm excited about it!" Blake told the crowd of his record. "I think it's the best I can do. I literally think it's the best I can do."

The cover for the record features a black and white headshot of Blake with the words If I'm Honest overlaid in block capitals with blue accents.

And Blake joked on The Voice that the album will be his final offering, adding: "That's probably going to be my last album, I think it's my last album. I'm just a coach on The Voice from now on!"

If I'm Honest features Blake's latest single Came Here to Forget. The romantic, slow track has sparked speculation among fans that it is about his divorce from Miranda Lambert and subsequent romance with singer Gwen Stefani.

Blake recently acknowledged the link between the song, which was co-written by Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan, and his personal life, saying: "I've had a lot of music over the years, but I don't think I've ever had a song before that's such a direct look into my life."

Gwen returned the favour by featuring a song about Blake on her new album This Is What The Truth Feels Like. The track Make Me Like You features lyrics such as "Oh God, thank God that I found you, Oh God, cause now you got me missing you."

In fact, Gwen and Blake have also written a song together. It's so far unclear where the song will appear, but Blake's representative confirmed the collaboration.

An insider added to People magazine that Blake returns to his "real country" roots on the song which also gives Gwen a chance to shine, with the source adding: "It's amazing how good she sounds on a pretty country song."
