Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty, the current Jake & Elwood Blues from the Blues Brother Review, are set to star in a planned Blues Brother TV Show.
Judy Belushi Pisano, former wife of the late John Belushi, tells Undercover that plans are underway to produce a television series based on the Blues Brothers characters. "I've written a script with one of the Saturday Night Live writers, Anne Beatts, and with Kieran and Wayne", she tells undercover.com.au. "The way we have scripted it over 6 to 8 shows where they are on a mission down the Mississippi back to New Orleans".
Judy was involved with the movie and also designed the artwork of all of the Blues Brothers albums. She is totally behind the continuation of the Blues Brothers with other actors. "What this has done has reminded me what great characters the Blues Brothers are," she says. "They are great American characters. People tend to think of them as John and Dan. They were the first actors to do it but they won't be the last. When you see Kieran and Wayne you will see how they embody those characters and make them work. There is a spirit of Blues Brothers. It is an umbrella for the Blues".
She tells Undercover that a show like this is missing from TV right now. "It is about what music does for your soul, the uplifting and all elements of despair," she says. "We always come back to humour in the blues. Between laughing and the way music plays are two really important elements in your life and to touch upon. It lightens your load and invigorates your soul".
The show will also be a vehicle for special guests. "Both the older generation as well as the new," she promises.
