Boy George was today (05.12.08) found guilty of falsely imprisoning a male escort at his East London apartment.
The singer - who was tried under his real name George O'Dowd - was warned he could face a jail sentence for handcuffing Norwegian Audun Carlsen, 29, to a wall during a naked photo shoot.
Speaking at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court, Judge David Radford explained: "The fact that your bail is being continued does not imply that this will be dealt with by a non-custodial sentence. I don't want any false expectations created."
George - who denied the charges of false imprisonment - admitted to police he had handcuffed Carlsen during the shoot in April 2007. Carlsen also claimed George had beaten him with a chain as he tried to escape from the property following the shoot.
George - who did not give evidence during the trial - denied Carlsen's assault claim, saying bruises the escort sustained could have been because he is HIV positive.
The former Culture Club singer had accused Carlsen of trying to steal photos of himself from his computer, which had been taken during a meeting three months earlier.
Carlsen told the court George had made up the story about the computer to punish him for not having sex with him during their first meeting.
Carlsen said of their initial encounter: "When he wanted sex, I said, 'That's not what I am here for'. He's not a person I would find attractive to have sex with.
"He was quite upset that I did not want to have sex with him. I think that was the trigger - why he was so upset."
George also reportedly performed unprotected oral sex on Carlsen "very briefly".
The 47-year-old star will be sentenced on January 16.
