Bret Michaels proposes to girlfriend - on the finale of his reality TV show

Michaels, who suffered a brain hemorrhage earlier this year, even presented Kristi Gibson with the same diamond he gave her two years ago as a 'friendship with mega benefits' ring.

'I want you to know that I love you and you've been unbelievably a big part of my life and we have two beautiful girls together,' he said as he got down on one knee.

'I know we love and respect each other and I hope we can find that inner love that we can have forever. I want you to be my wife.'

'Are you sure?' Kristi checked before agreeing to marry him.

Michaels, 47, has been dating 39-year-old Gibson for 16 years and the couple have two daughters together.

The Poison frontman has made no secret of his fears about losing his 'free spirit' by entering into marriage.

But on last night's finale episode of Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It, viewers finally saw the rocker propose.

Michaels got down on one knee in front of his long-term girlfriend while their children were at school – and then quickly dragged her to the bedroom to 'make an honest woman' of her.

'I'm speechless. I thought this day would never come. He doesn't realise how happy he’s made me,' Kristi said, after agreeing to be his wife.
