The heavy metal singer alleges they are responsible for a fractured nose and split lip he sustained when he was hit by a set piece during an on-stage mishap at the 2009 ceremony.
The lawsuit states that Michaels was never told the scenery piece would be descending or told about the dangers presented.
Six months after the accident, Michaels suffered a near-fatal bleeding beneath the thin tissue covering the brain, his Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit claims.
According to his court papers, Michaels had asked the show's producers if they had any instructions about where he should stand during his performance and how he should exit the stage. The suit reads: “They responded by telling him that there were no special instructions and that when his performance was over, he should simply exit from the stage rear.”
Michaels is asking for unspecified damages. A CBS spokesman declined to comment on the suit.
