The former Poison star was told by doctors that he must go under the knife in January to repair a hole in his heart.
The singer - who is diabetic - said: 'I'm very positive. I feel positive they're going to do an amazing job. They've done thousands of these operations.'
He will have the operation at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
In the most recent episode of Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It, screened on VH1, one of the heart experts told Michaels: 'I'll make a little stick in your groin. You will not have any recollection of anything once we start.'
Michaels, breathing a sigh of relief, joked: 'Phew.'
