A survey conducted by internet security firm McAfee have named Bruce Springsteen among a list of 'dangerous' celebrities to search for online.
The study looked into the possibility of contracting malware or a computer virus when going on sites displayed after a search of a celebrity's name, with Springsteen ranking high on the list alongside the likes of Jon Bon Jovi and TV host Jimmy Kimmel.
DJ Armin Van Buuren was the highest-ranking musician, yielding a 19.33 percent chance of hitting an online threat, whilst Springsteen hit 18.82 percent, and Bon Jovi 17.64 percent.
Gary Davis, a spokesperson for McAfee commented on the study: "Most consumers are completely unaware of the security risks that exist when searching for celebrity and entertainment news, images and videos online, sacrificing safety for immediacy,"
"Cyber criminals capitalise on consumers' attention to breaking celebrity news and leverage this behavior to lead them to unsafe sites that can severely infect their computers and devices and steal personal data."
Late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel, who topped the poll took the results in good spirits, saying on his show "Who would have guessed that a boy who used to carry a briefcase to junior high and play the clarinet would become the most dangerous person?"
