Bruno Mars' 'Just The Way You Are' Gets The 'Glee' Treatment

It's no surprise that one of 2010's biggest collaborators, Bruno Mars, has already teamed up with the folks at "Glee" three times this season. While last week's cover of "Forget You" (which skyrocketed to #1 on the iTunes charts after Gwyneth Paltrow's take on the tune) technically belongs to Cee Lo, Mars did partially write the wildly popular tongue-in-cheek track. And new kid Sam sang "Billionaire," Mars' collaboration with Travie McCoy, in the season premiere.

Now it's his solo work that's getting the "Glee" treatment. In this week's episode, "Furt," Finn (Cory Monteith) sang "Just the Way You Are," the first single from Mars' debut LP, Doo-Wops & Hooligans. And the "Glee" couples all chipped in on another one of his songs, "Marry You."

Before Gleeks were singing along with Mars' sweet lyrics, he's been making his mark on the industry for years.

The 25-year-old, who was born Peter Gene Hernandez and originally hails from Honolulu, has already written songs for some of the industry's hottest pop, rap and R&B acts. In fact, Adam Levine (of Maroon 5, who Bruno opened for during their most recent tour), Sean Kingston and Flo Rida (Bruno penned his monster hit, 2009's "Right Round") are just some of the artists who've sung along to his undeniably catchy hooks.

It was only a matter of time until Bruno moved from having a hand in some of the year's biggest hits to creating his own. While "Just the Way You Are" is a rather subdued song, it certainly made some noise on the charts. The song was released on July 19 and reached #1 by September 23 on the Billboard charts (and held onto the spot for three consecutive weeks).

The subsequent music video for the song, which features an adorable throwback to cassette tapes, was released in early September. His latest video, for "Grenade," just premiered on MTV last week.

In a year that saw him drop both an EP and an album, perform at the VMAs with Paramore's Hayley Williams and B.o.B and take the stage on "Saturday Night Live" (on the episode hosted by "Glee" star Jane Lynch), Mars also experienced a setback. He was arrested for possession of cocaine in Las Vegas on September 20.

The arrest clearly hasn't deterred most fans and critics. Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which was released on October 5, hit #3 on the Billboard 200 and sat atop the Digital Albums charts. The Boston Globe noted that Mars "clearly has his eyes on the charts." But he had a more poetic way of putting it when he spoke to MTV News.

"There's no way to describe the feeling of seeing your music being recognized. ... As an artist, that's what you hope for," he said. "I want the world to fall in love with my music, that's what I'm doing music for. I want to be able to do shows and have people come and see me do my thing."
