Bruno Mars is reportedly in the running to be an American Idol judge.
The Locked Out of Heaven singer is allegedly being considered for a seat on the panel of the TV talent show.
If he does accept an offer he is expected to join an entirely new set of mentors.
"He's super talented, amazingly charismatic, and well-liked by industry professionals and young fans," a source told HollywoodLife.com. "[Producers] are looking into making him an offer very soon."
Record producer and the only original judge to remain, Randy Jackson, confirmed he had completed his final season as an expert critic this month.
It is unconfirmed whether new judges country singer Keith Urban, rapper Nicki Minaj and vocalist Mariah Carey will return after a ratings slump.
"They're looking to lock down next seasons judging panel sooner than later," the insider continued.
At worst, bosses are apparently willing to settle for fewer stars as the face of the show.
Finishing the line-up could be the original American Idol Kelly Clarkson plus well-known singer and actor Harry Connick Jr.
"They're currently happy going with a three-person judge panel, and would really like to add a former Idol to the panel," the source commented. "Harry Connick Jr., Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars is their so-called 'dream team'."
