Blues legend, the inimitable guitarist Buddy Guy, spoke to ARTISTdirect.com about lots of topics, namely the blues, which he has made his living upon for several decades, as well as his new album, Living Proof. The man has lived quite the life, and we were captivated by every single thing he said in the space of these few minutes. That's rare for modern musicians, but this is Buddy Guy, and he is a living legend.
Here, Guy speaks about being born a sharecropper's son, and reveals that he didn't know what running water was until he was 17! In turn, he speaks about his introduction to the blues and about working with fellow legend B.B. King on "Stay Around a Little Longer" from Living Proof. Guy attributes all the credit for the song and the collaboration to the producer! Guy also says that when he hears King sing, he gets emotional, since it reminds him of his mother!
Few things move a person like the blues and Buddy Guy can move mountains.
