And as if that wasn't reason enough to celebrate, the one and only beach side student festival Beach Break Live is proud to announce some cracking new acts and extras to its already bulging bill!
With a breath-taking site nestled between 8 miles of silky white sand and woodland and a bucket already brimming full of top notch artists including synth-pop darling Calvin Harris, Drum and Bass boys Chase and Status, pop songstress Ellie Goulding, post punk rockers Futureheads, man of the moment and lyrical genius Plan B and electro rap outfit Example, the UK's coolest student shin dig keeps getting better and better!
Brace yourselves, as also hitting the beach this June and bringing their own brand of rockabilly to proceedings will be swinging Sunday Best siblings the amazing Kitty Daisy and Lewis, swaggering blues rock trio Band of Skulls, grime/dubstep veteran Plastician and rising pop upstarts Lucky Soul. With some huge acts yet to be unleashed, pull on your wet suit and grab your dancing shoes as this years Beach Break Live is shaping up to be the biggest yet!
And as with every great festival, Beach Break Live has more than just a tasty line up on offer. Whether you're a DJ, Snowboarder, musician, stand up comic, eco warrior or general madman, Beach Break live is bursting with all manner of nonsense and random fun to get involved with! Shake a leg at the Forties to Noughties, the opening night extravaganza which will take you on a merry musical jaunt through time from Lindy hop to acid house, to dubstep and back again, check out the Beauty Boudoir or take a dip in the BBL hot tubs! Marvelous!
Or if that doesn't tickle your pickle then why not try your hand at surfing, wakeboarding, skiing, snowboarding, paddle boarding, Sphering, Kite Surfing, Land Kiting, Tobogganing, Horse Riding, Coasteering skating, fun fairing, volley balling and more! Calling all soldiers of silliness and up-for-it Alans! Back by popular demand for 2010 will be the legendary Celtic Games! Get involved with the 'slippery tug of war' or 'granny grand prix' as each team goes head-to head to compete for the coveted golden goblet! Hurrah!
And if sports aren't your cup of tea then why not try your hand at DJing in the Beach Beats Battle, head-bang your way to the top in the Almost Famous battle of the bands competition or check out one of the amazing BBL workshops and learn burlesque, cocktail making, parkour, circus skills, magic, ball room dancing and more! Or simply dance in the spray at the acoustic beach stage or lay back and catch some early Summer rays on the stunning stretch of beach. From tom-foolery to knitting and giant chess, there really is something for everyone!
Forever looking after mother earth, BBL have dreamed up a super dooper fume free odyssey which involves a joyful journey to the festival in the most efficient time but with the smallest carbon footprint! Think pogo-sticking, raft-riding and hitch hiking… the further outside the box the better! More formula fun, than Formula 1, the Eco Race will be judged by taking into account distance travelled, maximum possible speed of mode of transport chosen, level of ambition and imagination.
A limited number of tickets are available for the student friendly price of £89 per person with affordable boutique camping options available to those who fancy 'splashing out.' There are also a limited number of non-student tickets. With some very special line up additions soon to be let out of the bag slap on the sun-screen and squeeze into your speedos and see you on the sand!
