Calvin Harris joins Glastonbury Dance Village 2009

Back for its fourth year this summer, the Dance Village is a party-within-a-party that caters for everything 'dance' at Glastonbury Festival. With six venues, myriad food stalls, vendors and plenty of other entertainments the area has a capacity of some 20,000 people and runs practically non-stop from Thursday evening until Monday morning.

After a prolonged wait this year, the full Dance Village line-up is now available featuring more than 200 acts. Ranging from disco (Futureboogie – Dance Lounge, Thursday) to dubstep (Skream & Benga – West Dance, Friday), from speed garage (MJ Cole – G Stage, Sunday) to salsa (La Excelencia – Pussy Parlure, Sunday), the Dance Village truly does reflect everything that is 'dance' music in the 21st Century.

Highlights across the weekend include live-sets from Calvin Harris (East Dance, Sunday), Peaches (West Dance, Sunday), Deadmau5 (East Dance, Saturday), Easy Star All Stars (East Dance, Friday) and electro-pop sensation La Roux (East Dance, Saturday). Whilst DJs include Erol Alkan (West Dance, Friday), 2 Many DJs (East Dance, Saturday), Chase & Status (G Stage, Sunday), Josh Wink (West Dance, Saturday) and Timo Maas (West Dance, Saturday).

Silent Disco will be running every night from Thursday with big-name acts such as Appleblim and Jim Masters. They'll also be handing out 3D glasses for the eye-popping graphics of 3D Disco, sure to keep the all-night party animals entertained.

Dance Village programmers have themed segments amongst the eclectic line-up. Bristol Rise Up! sees members of Bristol's dub and bass-heavy old-guard (Smith & Mighty, Dub From Atlantis…) joined by the new elite of the dubstep scene (Joker, Pinch, Peverelist…). Other groupings come in the form of the Bugged Out! take-over of West Dance on Friday, and Wall of Sound's Sunday evening in Dance Lounge marking the label's 15th birthday celebration (Infidels, Ocelot, Lottie, MPHO, Reverend and the Makers).
