CALVIN HARRIS said he was very surprised when his new single went to number one.
The Scottish DJ and producer has been at the top of the UK charts for the past two weeks with his single 'I'm Not Alone'.
But he said he was shocked to still be there as he expected to have been overshadowed by American artists like Lady GaGa.
He said: "It's a surprise getting to number one. Everything is very American at the moment. It is quite odd to see my name beside Americans with huge marketing campaigns.
"I don't have that kind of backing. It is twice as nice to beat someone who is from the US."
Harris also said that he is not a fan of 'Love Sex Magic', the recent collaboration between Justin Timberlake and Ciara which rivalled his track.
He explained: "The Ciara song is a carbon copy of the opening track on the Justin Timberlake album. It's exactly the same. They have even used the same samples and vocal effects.
"Music is becoming more linear generally. It is wallpaper and background music, though I really like Justin Timberlake's solo stuff. His last album was astonishing."
