Cara Delevingne called Rihanna for advice when she was turned down for a film role.
The 22-year-old star began her career in modelling but has recently made the move into acting with parts in Pan and Tulip Fever.
However, not all projects have worked out quite the way she wanted, and Cara was turned away when she auditioned for a new Beach Boys film. Luckily she had the 27-year-old singer to lean on for advice.
"I was heartbroken," Cara admitted to WSJ Magazine, explaining she called Rihanna, who said: "Everything happens for a reason. You are going to call me back in a week or two and say, 'You are right.'"
And the Bajan beauty's words rang true when Cara landed a role in Paper Towns not long after.
It's not the first time the stunning catwalk star has experienced firsthand how tough show business can be.
"It's horrible living in a world where I'll get a call from someone saying, 'So-and-so says you were partying a lot and you were looking this way and you need to lose weight.' It makes me so angry. If you don't want to hire me, don't hire me," she sighed.
But Cara isn't letting rejections get her down and is focusing on her romance with singer St. Vincent instead. The loved-up pair were spotted at a Cannes party this week but things got awkward when Cara's ex, Michelle Rodriguez, showed up at the same bash.
According to British newspaper The Mirror, the model couldn't "face" seeing her on/off lover from last year.
"Cara and Michelle haven't spoken since the split and they aren't friends anymore," an insider explained.
"Cara was with her new girlfriend and she couldn't face any kind of awkward confrontation."
