Was there any song catchier than Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" in 2012? Rather, has there been a catchier song ever? Probably not, which is why the flirty track has landed in the top spot on MTV's Best Songs of 2012 list. And the girl behind the tune couldn't be more thankful for the song's overwhelming success.
"First of all, wow, thank you so much! I have to thank the two other writers of 'Call Me Maybe,' Josh Ramsay and Tavish Crowe. When we worked on the song together, we were not expecting this year to turn out to be the crazy adventure that it is," she told in her acceptance speech. "Thank you to the fans, my team, my family and MTV — thanks to you!"

Having ruled both Billboard's Hot 100 and pop songs charts earlier this year, the song isn't just a fan favorite, but also a Grammy darling. It's up for two awards at the February show, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. All this success is something she attributes to her parents. It was their "congrats" that topped her list of Grammy love she's received so far.
As she looks back on her breakout 2012, she marks a show she played with industry mentor Justin Bieber as her #5 moment of the year. "#5 would be Mexico City. In Mexico City, I was Justin Bieber's special guest at an outdoor event where there were 300,000 people in the audience and I was kind of speechless for the amount of them," she shared. "And I thought 'How am I going to sing?' But, that was a really cool moment. We went up there sang 'Call Me Maybe' and they took it home with me."
She told she will spend the Christmas holiday at home, likely staying in her PJs for a week. And as for what's next music-wise, she's currently consulting with those closest to her to narrow down her next single. She's torn between two tracks.
